Alberta teachers feel the proposed “Task Force” is yet another delaying tactic and betrays the Stelmach campaign promises.
The “Task Force” yet again delays and procrastinates on an issue that is a crushing financial burden for teachers.
Alberta teachers are owed the government’s share of the UFL. It is not a gift.
Unfunded liabilities in pension plans for public employees are not unique problems. The Alberta government has paid off pension debts for other public sector groups. Other provinces have paid off teacher pension debts. Why should Alberta teachers be left with this burden?
The chronic under-funding of education must stop.
Education is a priority for all Albertans.
Stelmach’s campaign promised integrity. This means living up to the promises made to teachers.
Education is a vital infrastructure investment that ensures a diverse economy and future prosperity.
Albertan Conservatives did not elect Stelmach for short-sighted and mean-spirited educational policies that will endanger our standard of living and quality of life.
The Alberta inflation rate is 4.5% according to the most conservative estimates. How can the Stelmach government justify a 3% increase in education funding?
The Unfunded Liability issue has been unresolved for far too long.
The Stelmach election campaign promised immediate action and a long-term solution on the UFL issue. It is time to deliver on that promise.
The Liepert “Task Force” betrays the promise of the Stelmach campaign as it is not the immediate negotiations that were guaranteed.
Alberta teachers have been financially burdened with the UFL contributions long enough.
It is time for the poor planning and deferment of debt to stop. Future Albertans deserve responsible management of our wealth.
The sliding scale delivery of $25 million is an insulting offer. All teachers share the burden of the Unfunded Liability and all should share in any relief efforts.
The offer of $25 million to ease the UFL burden is inadequate.
The Stelmach government should ask itself why the teachers of Alberta are being deliberately provoked with insults, divisive and inadequate suggestions for managing the UFL, and a continuation of the chronic under-funding of education. These are not the actions of a government who intends to live up to campaign promises of integrity, stability and continuity.
Alberta teachers help create the prosperity of this province and should be permitted to partake of it.
Teachers of Alberta are/I am not satisfied with the decisions, policies and approach of the new Minister of Education.
Mr. Leipert has been confrontational, insulting and brusque toward the teachers of Alberta.
Alberta teachers have created a world class educational system and should not be treated in the contemptuous manner shown by Mr. Leipert.
The children of Alberta deserve an educational system that reflects the wealth and opportunities of our province. It is time to stop short-changing the educational lives of children.
Alberta history has shown that election promises are often made and easily broken, but I expected more of Mr. Stelmach.
